Young Writers and Illustrators Contest!

Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) invites youngsters to participate in its annual

Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest .

Children from kindergarten through third grade are encouraged to write and illustrate their own stories and submit them to MPB

by the March 31, 2009, deadline .

This years contest is sponsored by Western New York Public Broadcasting Association and Educate Media Resources, LTD.  You can watch Reading Rainbow Monday through Friday afternoons at 12:30 on MPB.

All entries from Mississippi are judged locally. First place winners are selected for each grade level, with each receiving a Reading Rainbow backpack and DVD copy of a Reading Rainbow program.  The first place winners will also have his or her entry submitted for inclusion in the national competition.
