These sessions focus on early childhood and K-12 and equip educators with tools, knowledge, and instructional strategies to function more effectively in 21st Century classrooms. February 9, 2013 – "Creating a Culture of Curiosity with Sid the Science Kid," Early Childhood Professional Development Workshop
Want to be a scientist? Bring your curiosity, and come prepared to have your imaginations sparked. Mississippi Public Broadcasting is excited to offer “Creating a Culture of Curiosity with Sid the Science Kid,” an early childhood professional development workshop for preschool teachers, on February 9, 2013, from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon in our MPB auditorium, located at 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS 39211. Receive educational resources and engage in hands-on activities focused on preschool science discovery. Featured activities will incorporate the four content strands of inquiry, life science, physical science, and earth science.
Sid the Science Kidis a daily television series and website for preschoolers and the grown-ups who care for them. Blending humor, great characters, and an innovative science curriculum, Sid the Science Kid builds on children’s natural curiosity and enthusiasm to promote exploration, discovery, and science readiness. Teachers who attend this workshop will receive information about the upcoming “Party with the Stars,” a Sid the Science Kid - The Movie premiere event at the Russell C. Davis Planetarium in Jackson, Mississippi in March 2013. Participants will be offered four (4) contact hours for workshop attendance, and certificates will be issued at the conclusion of the workshop.
